Adat Ari El - Brief Summary of Unit:
As a first attempt at writing a unit it was hard to know how much text to include. I think I "stopped" too early. Unit is about the early family dynamics surrounding the births and early years of Yakov and Esav. - Text studied:
Very beginning of Toldot - What is the place of Hebrew in this particular class?
Both text and classroom discussion are in English - How many hours per week is Tanakh studied in this class?
1-3 - How many lessons (approx) are required to teach this unit, including assessment?
10 - Any other issues or background about either you or your school that would be helpful in order to understand the context of your unit?
Hebrew knowledge is very low. Standard 1 is used more as a guideline for teaching rather than for assessment purposes. This was taught in 5th grade. First time students learned text in this organized a fashion and it was wonderful!
